The Kneipp Body Range from Bodycare2000
Kneipp - The Total Approach to Healthy Body & Mind
Relax with Kneipp Aromatherapy Products from Bodycare2000...
Sebastian Kneipp's (1821 - 1897) holistic approach is still of groundbreaking relevance today for naturopathic healing methods and contemporary preventative medicine. During his life, Kneipp used knowledge of the healing powers of water and medicinal plants and combined them with his own insights to create a systematic teaching. Thus the priest and naturopath created a visionary life philosophy that sees man going about his daily habits and routines and his natural environment as an inseperable and balanced entity. He considered the elements of water, plants, exercise, diet and balance to be closely linked. The name Kneipp not only stands for scientifically based nauropathic products and treatments, but also for a holistic life philosophy.
Water is an ideal conductor of heat and cold and as such forms the core of the famous "Kneipp Cure." Practised at home, alternating hot and cold water treatments will stimulate the circulation and strengthen the body's immune defence system.
Especially recommended:
Hot and cold rinses, knee and thigh rinses, cold rinses, cold footbaths (15-20 seconds) and water stepping. For information on the correct application of these methods contact your local Kneipp Association or consult books on the Kneipp Cure (e.g. Ines Wurm-Fenkel / Doris Fischer: Richtig kneippen. FALKEN, 2003).
The theory of the healing effects of specially selected herbs and plants is the result of thousands of years of experience and modern scientific findings. The Kneipp Group has always set store by optimally dosed plant preparations for its formulas and health products.
Plant extracts are used in pharmaceutical products and also in dietary supplements, foodstuffs and body care products. You will find them, for example, in teas, dragees, bath products or ointments.
Recommended diet:
A fibre-rich diet of wholemeal products, lots of fruit and vegetables (also juices), moderate amounts of cereal products and potatoes, sparing amounts of meat and even much less fat. In particular, low intake of animal fats (cold meats, hams etc.). Fish is, however, an exception. Use healthy vegetable fats for cooking and spreading on bread such as rapeseed oil, olive oil or margarine with polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Eating according to Sebastian Kneipp's dietary recommendations means being conscious of what we eat but without having to be ascetic. Enjoyment and the feeling of well-being are of prime importance. What matters is practising moderation. As Kneipp said, "If you feel like you have eaten, then you have eaten too much."
Sebastian Kneipp revolutionized naturopathic medicine in the 19 century. After having cured himself of a severe case of tuberculosis (a disease held to be incurable in his day) by taking short immersions in the freezing cold Danube, he began intensive study of the health-promoting power of water and the healing properties of certain plants.
The result of his long years of study and successes with practical application is a visionary life philosophy of timeless relevance. In the light of increasing pollution and stress-related diseases of civilisation, we have a greater need for effective healing methods and to practice preventative medicine.
For Kneipp, this meant regular physical exercise, a healthy diet and the balance of body, mind and soul. He became a pioneer in the field of holistic healing and teaching. The competence of a generations-old, tried and trusted naturopathic and pharmaceutical knowledge is synonymous with his name.
